Description

Blackmer SGL Series 2 inch to 4 inch pumps are ductile iron sliding vane pumps built for the transfer and recirculation of refrigerants and other liquefied gases. They are part of Blackmer's Cavitation Line, and every model carries a cavitation suppression liner that cuts the noise, vibration and wear that entrained vapors normally cause. The sliding vane design primes readily, holds its rated flow as the vanes wear, and can be brought back to like new condition by replacing the vanes, liner and end discs.

Each pump ships with an adjustable internal relief valve, a double ended keyed shaft, a replaceable liner and external ball bearings. Three sizes are available: SGLD2, SGLD3 and SGLD4B.

Models and Capacities

Model Port Size Nominal Flow Differential Pressure Shipping Weight
SGLD2 2 inch 14 to 67 gpm (53 to 254 L/min) 150 psi (10.3 bar) 88 lb (40 kg)
SGLD3 3 inch 30 to 133 gpm (114 to 503 L/min) 150 psi (10.3 bar) 165 lb (75 kg)
SGLD4B 4 inch 55 to 270 gpm (203 to 1,022 L/min) 125 psi (8.62 bar) 227 lb (103 kg)

Maximum working pressure is 525 psi (36.2 bar) with a single mechanical seal and 350 psi (24.1 bar) with a double mechanical seal. Viscosity range is 0.2 to 4,250 cP. Temperature range is -30°F to 240°F (-34°C to 115°C). Operating speed is 350 to 640 rpm. Connection orientation is side inlet, top outlet.

What You Select on This Page

Choose your size, your mechanical seal and your flange connection above, and the price updates for that exact build. Everything else on this page ships in Blackmer's standard configuration, listed in the Configuration Options table below. If you need something outside those three choices, call (262) 646-4500 and we will build the order code for you.

Seal Options

The seal is the part of the pump that has to match your liquid, so it is worth checking against your product data sheet before ordering. All six seals below are Blackmer single mechanical seals.

Code Materials Fits
BL Steel / HNBR / Carbon / HNBR (SJCJ). Standard. All three models
S0 Steel / FKM / Carbon / FKM (SVCV) All three models
BN Steel / Neoprene / Carbon / Neoprene (SPCP) All three models
BE Silicon Carbide / PTFE / Carbon / PTFE (LACA) SGLD2 and SGLD3
BR Silicon Carbide / HNBR / Carbon / HNBR (LJCJ) All three models
BM Steel / PTFE / Carbon / Kalrez (SACK) All three models

Elastomer temperature limits: HNBR -30°F to 240°F, FKM -15°F to 240°F, PTFE with stainless steel spring 0°F to 240°F, Neoprene -30°F to 240°F.

Double Mechanical Seals, Plan 52 and Plan 53

SGLD3 and SGLD4B can also be built with a Blackmer double mechanical seal in a Carbon / FKM / Steel / FKM arrangement, to API Plan 52 or Plan 53. A double seal is not available on SGLD2. A double seal build also needs a barrier fluid system, which is sized to the application and is quoted with the pump rather than selected here. A 3 gallon ASME VIII Division 1 seal pot assembly with level gauge and switch, drain and instrument valves, pressure gauge and switch and vent valve is the standard system, and a 5 gallon system is used for high temperature service. Call to Order (262) 646-4500 and we will quote the pump and the barrier fluid system together.

Flange and Connection Options

Flange sizes differ by pump size, so not every flange code is offered on every model. The table below shows what each code is on each pump.

Code SGLD2 SGLD3 SGLD4B
N, NPT flanges 2 inch NPT (standard) 3 inch NPT (standard) 3 inch x 3 inch NPT
W, weld flanges 2 inch weld 3 inch weld 4 inch x 3 inch weld
3, alternate weld flanges Not offered Not offered 4 inch x 4 inch weld
G, 300# ANSI flanges 2 inch ANSI 300# 3 inch ANSI 300# 4 inch x 4 inch ANSI 300#

Weld flanges are steel to ASTM A216 WCB. NPT flanges are ductile iron to ASTM A536.

Configuration Options

These are set to Blackmer's standard on every pump built from this page. To change any of them, call (262) 646-4500 with your application details and we will price the build.
