Description

Specifically designed to offer maximum versatility for handling a wide variety of clean, non-corrosive liquids, the NP and NPH Series Sliding Vane Pumps (Iron Line) are general purpose positive displacement pumps ideal for applications where high temperature, high pressure, high viscosity, and/or shaft sealing requirements dictate a sleeve bearing pump. The Blackmer® unique sliding vane rotor design provides sustained, high level performance over a wide viscosity range, and slow operating speeds with non-pulsating flow minimize shear and agitation of the fluid.

The unique head and bearing design is conducive to long bearing life: a small, continuous flow of fluid from the discharge side to the bearings creates a hydrodynamic film that minimizes temperature rise. These pumps are self-priming and dry-run capable due to self-adjusting vanes, making them ideal for priming and line stripping. High volumetric efficiency and symmetrical bearing support mean the NP/NPH Series pumps require less horsepower than other PD pumps, increasing efficiency and reducing operating costs.

NP vs. NPH — which one do I need? Both series share the same internals, performance envelope, and options structure. The difference is the port layout: NP models (NP1.5B, NP2F, NP2.5F, NP3F, NP4F) have a side inlet with a top outlet offset 90° from the inlet, and are cast iron construction. NPH models (NPH2F, NPH2.5F, NPH3F, NPH4F) have a side inlet with a side outlet offset 180° from the inlet, and are ductile iron construction. Pick the model that matches the piping layout on your installation.

  • Ductile-iron/cast-iron construction with metallized carbon sleeve bearings and non-metallic vanes for longer life
  • Optional commercial mechanical seal with stainless steel, carbon, and PTFE construction
  • Shaft stuffing box accommodates most standard aftermarket mechanical seal configurations
  • Jacketed pump head option available for high temperature operation (call to order, see Configuration Options below)
  • Pump design and operation minimizes shear and agitation
  • Adjustable relief valve protects the pump against excessive pressures

Common applications: refined fuels, greases, solvents, chocolate, syrups, molasses, edible oils, black liquor, sodium silicate, tallow, wax, glues, adhesives, creosote, asphalt, and Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF).

Dimensions

Model L (in) W (in) H (in) Pump Weight (PSG dimensions table) Shipping Weight (used for freight)

Pump Weight is Blackmer/PSG's published dimensions-table weight for the bare pump. Shipping Weight is the price sheet's shipping weight and is what freight/checkout uses for this listing; the two differ on several models, which is normal for this series.

Configuration Options (call to order)

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the main applications for NP Series Sliding Vane Pumps?
NP Series Sliding Vane Pumps are commonly used for handling refined fuels, greases, solvents, chocolate, syrups, edibles oils, asphalt, adhesives, and other similar clean, non-corrosive liquids, making them versatile for various industrial applications.
How do NP Series Sliding Vane Pumps ensure efficient operation with high-viscosity or high-temperature liquids?
These pumps feature a unique sliding vane rotor design that minimizes shear and agitation, and they are available with optional jacketed pump heads and high-temperature seals, supporting high-temperature and high-viscosity liquid handling. Self-priming and dry-run capabilities further enhance operational efficiency across a wide viscosity range.
What are the differences between the NP and NPH series of sliding vane pumps, and how do I choose the right model for my piping setup?
The main difference between the NP and NPH series is the port layout and construction material: NP models have a side inlet with a top outlet and cast iron construction, while NPH models have side inlets with side outlets made from ductile iron. Choosing the appropriate series depends on your piping configuration and installation requirements.
