Description

Blackmer LGL Series 2 inch to 4 inch pumps are ductile iron sliding vane pumps built for propane, LPG, butane and anhydrous ammonia. Part of Blackmer's Cavitation Line, every model on this page carries a cavitation suppression liner that cuts the noise, vibration and wear normally caused by entrained vapor, plus a replaceable casing liner and end discs so the pumping chamber can be rebuilt to like new condition without replacing the pump. All models are listed by Underwriters Laboratories for both LPG and anhydrous ammonia service and ship with an internal relief valve, Duravane vanes, Blackmer mechanical seals, external ball bearings and Buna-N O-rings.

Two Mounting Platforms, One Series

This page covers both halves of the 2 inch to 4 inch LGL line, and the two halves mount very differently.

LGLD2E, LGLD3F and LGLD4B are base mounted pumps for bulk plants, terminals and truck systems. They are commonly bolted to the chassis of a bobtail or to a steel pad welded to the tank, and the 3 inch and 4 inch sizes mount to a transport near or between the tank landing gear brackets. They are rated to 150 psi (10.3 bar) differential pressure and are available as a bare pump, as a gearbox unit or as a V-belt drive unit.

TLGLF3C, TLGLF3HD and TLGLF4B are flange mounted truck pumps that bolt straight to the tank. Direct mounting removes the inlet pipe, shut off valve and external strainer, which is where flow restriction and vaporization problems usually start, so the result is smoother operation and longer pump life. Every TLGLF model has a double-ended drive shaft for clockwise or counterclockwise rotation by repositioning the pump, and an auxiliary intake port for emergency unloading of another tank or transport. They are rated to 125 psi (8.6 bar) differential pressure and can be driven by PTO shaft or by hydraulic motor using an adapter kit.

Models and Performance

Model Mounting Nominal Flow Range Speed Range Max Differential
LGLD2E Base mounted, 2 inch 30 to 105 gpm (114 to 397 L/min) 350 to 980 rpm 150 psi (10.3 bar)
LGLD3F Base mounted, 3 inch 60 to 201 gpm (227 to 761 L/min) 350 to 980 rpm 150 psi (10.3 bar)
LGLD4B Base mounted, 4 inch 150 to 370 gpm (568 to 1,400 L/min) 350 to 800 rpm 150 psi (10.3 bar)
TLGLF3C Flange mounted, 3 inch 60 to 140 gpm (227 to 530 L/min) 400 to 870 rpm 125 psi (8.6 bar)
TLGLF3HD Flange mounted, 3 inch high capacity 80 to 180 gpm (303 to 681 L/min) 350 to 800 rpm 125 psi (8.6 bar)
TLGLF4B Flange mounted, 4 inch 190 to 425 gpm (719 to 1,608 L/min) 350 to 800 rpm 125 psi (8.6 bar)

Common to every model: maximum working pressure 350 psi (24.1 bar), temperature range -25°F to 240°F (-32°C to 115°C), viscosity 0.2 to 10 cP, side inlet with top outlet porting, ductile iron construction, Duravane vanes and Buna-N elastomers.

The TLGLF3HD moves 55 percent more product than the TLGLF3C on the same 3 inch frame, which is what makes it the right pick for high capacity bobtails running 7,000 gallon tanks.

Discharge Flange Options

Discharge flange is selectable above. The connection each code produces depends on the model, so use this table to pick the right one. On the TLGLF models the discharge flange code covers the discharge only; the auxiliary inlet is selected separately.

Auxiliary Inlet Options

The auxiliary intake port is a TLGLF feature, used for emergency unloading of a second tank or transport. Select None for any LGLD model, since base mounted LGLD pumps do not have an auxiliary inlet. Blank Flange closes the port off on a TLGLF pump that does not need it.

Standard Configuration

Every pump on this page ships with the following. Blackmer lists each of these as standard on this series, with no alternative offered.

Item Standard
Vanes Duravane
Rotation Double-ended keyed shafts, so the pump runs clockwise or counterclockwise depending on how it is mounted
Mechanical Seal Steel HD / Buna-N / Carbon / Buna-N, rated for LPG or NH3 service
Relief Valve Internal iron on LGLD2E, LGLD3F, TLGLF3C and TLGLF3HD. Corrosion resistant on LGLD4B and TLGLF4B
Relief Valve Spring Steel
O-Rings Buna-N

Configuration Options

The following are available but are not selectable above. Call (262) 646-4500 to specify any of them on your order.

Option Details
Hydraulic Motor Adapter Kit Lets a TLGLF or LGLD pump be driven by a hydraulic motor instead of a PTO shaft. Available for 1 inch and 1-1/4 inch hydraulic motor shafts depending on model
Relief Valve Shims TLGLF3C only, for fine adjustment of the internal relief valve setting
Integrated Unit Assembly See below

Unit Assemblies

The three base mounted models can be supplied as a complete Blackmer Integrated Unit Assembly rather than as a bare pump. These are pre-engineered drop-in packages that need no field alignment.

V-belt drive units include the base, pump and motor sheaves and hubs, V-belts and steel guard, ready to receive the pump and motor. Ratios run from 2.24:1 to 5.37:1 depending on model, across NEMA 184T through 324T motor frames.

Gear reducer units include the base, gear reducer, couplings and coupling guards, ready to receive the pump and motor. LGLD2E uses the SK 571.1-W reducer with nine ratios from 2.23:1 to 9.51:1, LGLD3F uses the SK 771.1-W with six ratios from 2.15:1 to 4.96:1, and LGLD4B uses the SK 52-W with seven ratios from 2.78:1 to 4.61:1.

Unit assemblies are priced separately from the pump. Call (262) 646-4500 with your required flow rate, motor frame and drive type and we will quote the matching assembly.
