Description
Blackmer X and XH Series sliding vane pumps are positive displacement rotary pumps for the loading, unloading, blending and transfer of clean, thin liquids. The sliding vane design self-adjusts for wear, so the pump holds its rated flow over a long service life instead of falling off the way a fixed-clearance rotary pump does. High suction lift and line stripping make these pumps well suited to underground tank service, bulk plant transfer, terminal loading and aircraft refueling.
This page covers the 2 inch through 4 inch models: capacities from 10 to 528 GPM, differential pressure to 125 PSI, viscosity from 0.2 to 4,250 cP, and temperatures from -25 F to 300 F. All models use external ball bearings isolated from the pumped liquid by a Blackmer single mechanical seal, an adjustable internal relief valve, and a single ended keyed shaft.
Two Porting Orientations, One Series
The X and XH models are the same pump platform with two different port arrangements, priced identically and sharing every option, kit and replacement part:
- X models (X2B, X2.5B, X3E, X4B-N) have a 90 degree porting orientation: side inlet with a top outlet.
- XH models (XH2B, XH2.5B, XH3E, XH4B) have a 180 degree porting orientation: side inlet with a side outlet directly opposite.
Choose the orientation that matches your piping run. The 2 inch, 2.5 inch and 3 inch models are cast iron; the 4 inch models (X4B-N and XH4B) are ductile iron. Blackmer's dimensional drawings, parts lists and kit tables refer to the X4B-N as the X4B.

The 2.5 inch pumps take a 3 inch ANSI flange adapter, one size above the port. Dimensional drawing 101-113 covers the ANSI flange adapters for every model.

Integrated Unit Assemblies
Every model on this page is also available as a fully integrated unit assembly: the pump mounted with a Nord gear reducer, motor, baseplate, couplings and coupling safety guards on a common base, aligned at the factory and ready to drop in. Gear reducer selections are the SK 571.1-W for the 2 inch pumps, the SK 771.1-W for the 2.5 inch pumps, the SK 871.1-W for the 3 inch pumps and the SK 52-W for the 4 inch pumps, in motor frames from 182T through 326T.
